Addressing a meeting of foreign ambassadors based in Tehran, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African-American Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian described the views of Islamic Republic of Iran on issues of Syria evaluating Vienna talks and the efforts of the United Nations (UN) as a positive step forward in resolving the Syrian crisis.
“The steps being taken will end up in a satisfactory conclusion if we consider the realities of Syria and the region leading to unification of terrorism confrontation and political solution,” he added.
Amir-Abdollahian further clarified the results of the two Vienna summit meetings on the Syrian crisis asserting “Iran welcomes any country’s positive measures to help resolve the crisis as long as they respect Syria’s sovereignty leaving the political destiny of the country to the Syrian nation.”
“Any decision or action needs to be within the framework of the Syrian people’s desire and the centrality of the UN and must be carried out in coordination with the Syrian government and the international law,” underlined deputy FM.
Amir-Abdollahian commented on the present ambassadors’ questions at the end of the meeting.
